Rain, rain, go away. Come again when we don’t have an outdoor activity planned. We had to cancel our trip to the Naches River Adventure until a later date because of dangerous weather conditions. Our Activities Chairman has rescheduled the event for a date in November (to be announced in the next newsletter).
May event was also cancelled, but not from weather problems, but for a lack of response. We needed at least 25 people to sign up for the event and we did not meet the quota.

Federal Reserve Tour & Lunch at Tony’s
The Precinct 4 bus will depart Kingwood United Methodist Church Family Outreach Center, Woodland Hills Drive and Crystal Spring at 8:45am. A tour through the Federal Reserve in Houston promises to be an informative morning as we walk through the history of currency. The Houston branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas was completed several years ago and features information about how the Federal Reserve was started, role of the Fed and monetary policy. The Houston branch is the distribution center for more than $1 billion in cash for this region; sorry no samples will be distributed during our tour. After the tour a relaxing gourmet lunch will be served at the Houston icon, Tony’s starting at 12:00pm with a Bosc Pear Salad, Red & Yellow Endive and Sliced Pears in an Apple Cider Vinaigrette accented with Organic Goat Cheese and Spiced Pecans salad, followed by entrée choices of Chicken Involtino Stuffed with Spinach, Sundried Tomatoes and Fontina Cheese or Snapper Sheridan, Scaloppine of Red Snapper with Roasted Peppers, Peas and a Citrus Bianco. The finishing desert will be Tuxedo Cake; Devil’s Food Cake, Mascarpone and Chocolate Mouse. Ice tea and coffee is included.

Houston Astros $1 Hot Dog Night!
Let us support the “new” Astros. We welcome a new season, a new manager and basically a new team. We have reserved the club level seats again this year even though there has been a slight cost increase. The club level does feature wider seats, better views of the field, and improvements in the food offerings and menu. Also, the inside level has better air conditioned and offers excellent TV replays thru-out the game if one wishes to watch. The senior discount price is $58 per person ($116 per couple.) We will be playing the Tampa Bay Rays, a good team in the East division the American League.
The bus will be leaving from the Methodist Church Outreach parking lot at 4:45 pm with game time at 7:10 pm. The hosts for this event are Judy and Cass Zabinski. “Driving Miss Daisy” at Stages Theater
Come join the RECK group for dinner and the stage show “Driving Miss Daisy” on Friday September 11th at the Stages Theater. Sally Edmundson stars in this Pulitzer Prize-winning classic set against the backdrop of Civil Rights-era Atlanta. “Driving Miss Daisy” chronicles the unlikely bond between an aging white Southern Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur. Over the course of more than two decades, mutual suspicion and mistrust evolve into respect and true affection in this iconic celebration of courage and friendship.
To begin our evening we will dine at Vincent’s Restaurant which is near the Stages Theatre. It’s an Italian restaurant well known for it’s wood burning open flame rotisserie; the smells are irresistible!! The pizzas are made with fresh dough made daily. Members will be ordering from the menu and the cost is your responsibility.
Our hosts, Kay and Herb Caffey, have been fortunate enough the secure the BEST tickets for only $30.00 each. We’re very fortunate to get this amazing price!!! (The first members who say “Yes” will get the front-row seats) The $30 would be for tickets starting on the side in the front row and moving back in that section.
The deadline to sign up for this event is July 1st. We will leave from the Kingwood United Methodist Church out reach center, 1779 Woodland Hills Drive at 4:45pm and return about 11:00pm.
