Change in Leadership:
Out with the Old and in with the New: As December closes, so does the term for the old RECK Board. To Barb and Murray Fordree; thank you for your second time to serve on the board. To Bob and Peggy Dorrill; you didn’t know what you were getting into, but you did a great job. Thank you for your eighteen months of service to RECK. For myself; this is the second and last time I will be serving as secretary/ newsletter person.
Our new Chairmen are Judy and Bill Miles. The event coordinators are Kay and Herb Caffey. Claire and Michael Garrett will assume the Secretary/Newsletter position and the treasure/membership. We welcome these new officers to RECK and wish them the best in the coming year. Please help support the new officers by signing up and also hosting events.

How could we know that the number 13 could be so lucky? The Astros went thirteen innings to finally win against Tampa Bay Rays. We watched great pitching and fabulous plays by this young team. Who could have predicted this game was just the next step to winning the Al wild card against the New York Yankees. Thanks to Cass and Judy Zabinski for arranging the event.

The RECK group spent an entertaining evening at the Stages Theater watching “Driving Miss Daisy”. The evening began with an Italian dinner at Vincent’s restaurant then on to the theater. Everyone was amazed at the quality of the acting. The makeup for the star as Miss Daisy was outstanding. Thanks go to Kay and Herb Caffey for the arranging the great tickets and making the dinner reservations.

Saturday was definitely a WINE day. With October designated as wine tasting month, Barb and Murray Fordree arranged a fantastic wine tasting trip along the Blue Bonnet wine trail. This was a brand new event for our group and everyone seemed to enjoy the fall bus ride and lunch at the near by Pizza Shack and we have to mention the great tasting Texas wines we sampled.
