A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
We are happy to announce that RECK has come through 2017 in great shape, which was better than last year which was better than the year before that. Albeit, we are looking for new members all the time as well as people who can step up and join us on the Board as well as intrepid members who would like to host a trip. It’s easy, fun and so helpful. Hosting is how I got started. Please contact Judy Miles 281-381-3934 or any of our Board Members if you are interested in hosting or joining the Board. As we all know this past year was an extremely trying time (floods, illnesses, deaths) for so many of our members, families, friends and neighbors and our hearts go out to all. RECK was also touched by the flood having to cancel three of its best events. One of those events was an Astros game. We will try our best to again get reasonably priced tickets for the Astros. If anyone has an “in” at the Astros for us, please contact us.
A big thank you to, Bill & Jo Richard for again stepping up and hosting the Racetrack on February 20. The limit of available seats in the Jockey Club is 25. No bus, just carpooling. It’s a fun day at the track, the food is surprisingly tasty and it’s a short walk to place your bets so if you haven’t been there before, read the blurb, see if you are interested and sign up quickly. March 17, we have 20 tickets on the bus for the Rodeo and the entertainment is Brad Paisley. April 25, is our long awaited trip to Spindletop in Beaumont, visiting the actual Spindletop site, the Spindletop Museum, a tour of the historic McFaddin-Ward House, lunch at Suga’s Deep South Cuisine & Jazz Bar and the Babe Didrikson Zaharias Museum & Visitor Center. There will be 39 seats available for this trip on the bus. For May, Claire and Mike Garrett are putting together and hosting a wonderful trip to Washington On the Brazos. So, as you can see we four Board Members are working hard for RECK and having a lot of fun doing it! As always, if you have a place where you would like us to visit, let me know. Hope to see you soon! Co-President Judy Miles
